Check out the new kicks!
So, I'm going to stick it out with the modeling career for now. Check out the new style, the pumped up kicks.  My first pair of brown dress shoes in over ten years!!! Sweet! I better run, better run. And, now down to business...

No podcast this time. I am simply going to provide the link to Socrative.

I believe this would be a good tool for Galileo prep and review. It is not terribly time consuming to enter questions. The data can help teachers focus on the students that don't get it, didn't get it.

Socrative is a free app and is ideal for interaction within your classroom.

You can ask questions in the moment via Single Question Activities, or you can design a quiz beforehand and run it during class. Either way, you'll be able to visualize and measure student understanding in real time.

Students can respond from laptops, tablets, smart phones and other handheld devices.

Practice on your own:

  • Teacher: Log in by entering your email and password
  • Student: Open a second computer/smartphone and go to m.socrative.com
  • Student: Enter the Room Number. (The Room Number is reflected on the Teacher Dashboard)
  • Teacher: Ask a question out loud and press the Multiple Choice button
  • Student: Respond by selecting A, B, C, D or E
  • Teacher: See the results populate your screen in real time

You can run the Teacher Tool from an Android device, Apple device, Chrome book, computer, tablet or smartphone by going to t.socrative.com.

Writing Prompts and a couple goals...

First of all, I'd like to share that we have a brand new black lab puppy in my family. My girls are thrilled and I am getting even less sleep than normal. Now, down to business...

I am making it around the school from classroom to classroom...slowly. I have yet to talk to some of you. I will eventually.

Prior to the school year I set some goals for myself as Technology Coach. I revealed a little bit of these when I mentioned 'my vision' in an email earlier this week. As I  watched and learned these first two weeks I began to formulate even more of a plan. However, before revealing anymore about plans and goals I would like to  offer my help.

What can I help you with in order to get technology integrated into our curriculum? I want to help but must admit that I am not a hardware/network specialist. I am not Jimmy Fallon's 'Tech Guy' from Saturday Night Live. I may not have answers initially or immediate feedback for you but I will work to find a solution.

I also plan to model some of the ideas and strategies that I envision eventually being used in classrooms.

With this new modeling career in mind...Watch this seven minuted video about how to come up with writing prompts for your content areas. After watching the video, I would like you to 'Comment' on this blog entry by answering these questions: Was this at all helpful? What is the silly nickname I call myself (watch to the very end...fill in the blank...'His ________________, inc.')?

Feel free to click around an tour this site. I have posted a couple of videos from the first two weeks of school on the 'Podcasts and Videos' page....
